Accountant

We are looking for a meticulous, proactive, and improvement-oriented individual to fill a new Accountant position.

 

As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, actively contributing to the company’s financial health and success. You will support the accounting team and provide guidance to team members to ensure rigorous and efficient financial management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Supervision and Verification:

  • Oversee the management of problematic collections.
  • Verify accounting transactions for accuracy.
  • Review customer and supplier accounts to ensure data entered by accounting clerks is correct.

Financial Consolidation and Analysis:

  • Consolidate and validate existing financial data to ensure a strong foundation for analysis.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and process end-of-month journal entries.
  • Monitor and maintain the accuracy of general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure the reconciliation of control accounts.

Report Production:

  • Prepare interim financial statements.
  • Generate specific financial reports for management.
  • Analyze financial data to detect anomalies or identify key trends.

Audit Support:

  • Prepare documents required for internal or external audits.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Accountant to respond to auditor inquiries regarding transactions or accounts.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify needs for improvement in accounting processes and suggest innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with the accounting technician and other team members to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance accounting software or tools used.
  • Establish and maintain processes to reduce the risk of errors or fraud.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (an asset).
  • CPA designation or in the process of obtaining it (an asset).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of professional ethics and confidentiality.
