Reporting to the Quality and Food Safety Manager, the Quality and Food Safety Coordinator will primarily be responsible for implementing a new food safety certification as part of the construction of a new carrot packaging facility. In collaboration with an external consultant, they will ensure that the facility meets regulatory requirements and the highest quality standards. This role will oversee the integration of new safety procedures into the operations of the new facility and will manage team training.
Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the external consultant to develop and implement a new food quality and safety standard
- Coordinate the assessment of processes to ensure they meet food safety standard requirements
- Participate in the writing and updating of quality and safety procedure documents
- Supervise internal audits as the facility begins operations and follow up on non-conformities
- Ensure that all plant operations comply with local, provincial, and federal food safety regulations
- Work with construction and engineering teams to integrate safety requirements into facility design
- Develop corrective action plans for deviations identified during audits and ensure their implementation
- Ensure smooth communication between all stakeholders, including the project team and external consultant, to guarantee successful standard implementation
- Monitor quality performance indicators and generate periodic reports
- Train and raise awareness among employees about the new food safety standards
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar quality assurance role, ideally in the food industry and with standard implementation projects
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with external consultants and project teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in computer tools and software
